Netflix has been everyone’s top subscriber-based streaming platform for half a decade now. Since its venture to Asian territories in 2015, Netflix subscribers have increased from 66 million to 213 million and counting.
The streaming platform has and will predictably continue to grow in the next five years. Given that, here are DesignerPile’s picks for Best of Netflix for 2021.
Castlevania Season 4
Konami’s Castlevania animated series revamp has been a tremendous success thanks to its core fanbase and American-influenced series like Avatar: The Last Airbender, its sequel The Legend of Korra, The Animatrix, and W.I.T.C.H.
Castlevania has influenced other American-centric anime titles like The Blood of Zeus. Also, considerably, even foreign-produced anime from China, Korea, and Filipino-produced anime thrive nowadays.
The Way of The Househusband Seasons 1 and 2
The Way of the Househusband has proven to everyone that you do not need good quality animation to entertain the viewer. Of course, it is One Punch Man’s sentiment, but Househusband is a current reminder of that.
The story features ex-Yakuza boss Tatsu and his loyalty and endearingness to serve his wife, Miku.
Kate is on this list for only one reason. Mary Elizabeth Winstead. She’s an iconoclast who became a household name since Scott Pilgrim vs. the World with her iconic role as Ramona Flowers. Ramona is every hipster’s wet dream or nightmare. But, regardless of what everyone thinks or how the people idealize Winstead’s iconic role, she’s more than that.
She became an arch-villain in Sky High, a Scream Queen in Final Destination 3, and a Super Heroine in Harley Quinn’s Suicide Squad spinoff film, Birds of Prey.
Winstead or Kate becomes an action hero, just like her role in Birds of Prey and Scott Pilgrim. She’s joined by an ensemble cast featuring debuting teen star named Miku Martineau, The JRock Icon Miyavi, and the ever-charismatic Woody Harrelson
The filmography and storytelling in this movie are stunningly beautiful, and the visuals are as bright and colorful as Tokyo’s nightlife scene. If that’s not a good enough reason to watch it, I do not know what is.
Cobra Kai Season 3
The Filipino-American-produced anime, Trese had set Social media on fire. The anime series boasted fantastic storytelling from Kajo Baldisimo and Budjette Tan’s source material. Trese is a successful graphic novel series from the duo, which started publishing in October 2005.
Not only that, but the cast features an all-star voice acting performance from Fil-Am celebrities like Pussycat Dolls’ own Nicole Scherzinger, Avatar’s Dante Basco, and Television sweetheart Liza Soberano. Say what you want out of their performances, but it looks like the only way for Trese is up from here. If you have loved this series, Tan and his crew had already planned the production for season 2.
